BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES ON TRUSTEES
Alan Porter (Chairman) Alan is a retired auctioneer and estate agent.He lives in Spalding Lincs He played cricket at school, in the Forces and at a local level. He is a Life member of Lincs CCC, a Patron member of Nottinghamshire CCC and a member of Surrey CCC.He was instrumental in establishing the Fred Trueman National Schools League. He is also a Past President of Rotary.
Ken Merchant ( Secretary) Ken has been a Trustee and the Secretary since the Trust was formed. Prior to his retirement he was the European Commercial Director of a major International Shipping Group. He is an Exec member of Essex CCC,a Life member of Scarborough CC and has memberships of Notts,Yorks and MCC Outside of cricket he is a radio presenter and the Chairman of Southend Hospital Radio Services..
John Ellis John retired from the Civil Service having served over 43 years in The War Office,The Foreign Office and various legal departments. He saw his first cricket match in 1930 and has been a keen follower ever since. He served on the Executive Committee of The Cricket Society before becoming a Trustee and later Chairman of The Trust until 2008. He is a member of MCC, Middlesex and Surrey CCC.
Peter Byrne.(Treasurer) Peter,is well known in cricket circles as a scorer and statistician. He is a Chartered Accountant by trade and has his own business. He is a member of MCC and other counties. He was until recently Treasurer of The Cricket Society.
Ronald Paterson is a Solicitor and a Partner in Eversheds L.L.P. He learnt to play cricket in Edinburgh nearly 50 years ago and has been playing ever since. He is a member of numerous cricket clubs and of the Executive Committee of The Cricket Society and the Membership and General Purposes Committee of MCC
Lyndon Thomas Prior to his retirement Lyn was an Executive Director of Direct Line and Privilege Insurance companies. He has been a fervent supporter of Glamorgan CCC for over 50 years and has watched cricket around the world. In 2008 Lyn stepped down as Vice Chairman of The Cricket Society.
Bill Allen OBE is a retired General Dental Practitioner who also served as Chairman of Council and President of the British Dental Association and a Councillor of the World Dental Federation. A past Chairman of The Cricket Society, he played cricket for The Society and his village Wickham Bishops until 2009. Bill is also a member of MCC and Essex CCC and remains an enthusiastic advocate for leg-spin bowling.
