Fred Trueman State Schools Cricket League

The Fred Trueman State Schools Cricket League was established in 2005 and has grown rapidly since its introduction.

The League exists to promote cricket in state schools throughout the country.

Starting in the Huntingdonshire area within ten years the League has now expanded into Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

The League is supported by the ECB and by MCC.

The Trust has been very supportive of the project as it has allowed many schools to enjoy competitive cricket at local level and within different age groups.

In recent decades schools cricket in the public sector has suffered through shortage of funds and facilities.

The Trust hopes that by assisting in the implementation phase of the project it will allow many youngsters to develop skills which without the League structure would never surface and mature.

“May I on behalf of the Committee thank the Cricket Society Trust for the further donation of £1,000.  The money will go towards establishing the League in Bedfordshire, where 30 more schools have signed up.”
